KIA January 28, 2009
Operation Iraqi Freedom
Assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado
Died January 28, 2008 in Monsul, Iraq along with four fellow soldiers, when their convoy was struck by an IED while under enemy attack.
Brandon, the son of a pastor, was known for his sarcastic sense of humor and fondness for practical jokes. A towering 6’4”, with size 13 shoes, he was nearly as tall as his father. They use to poke fun at their height by pretending to knock their heads on the ceiling when they walked down the stairs, hitting it with a loud thump for effect. Brandon would scare friends and family with masks, imitate voices from TV and movies, and plant fake plastic bugs just for the screams.
After graduating from high school in 2005, Brandon joined the Army in January 2007. He died just six days before his 21st birthday. His mother said upon hearing of her son’s death, “He knew in life what he wanted to do and that was to be in arms with his brothers.”
