Assigned to the 9th Infantry Division, Fort Bliss, TX
Died April 15, 1968 when the supply vehicle he was riding in was hit by an enemy mine while on a re-supply mission to a pinned platoon.
Robert grew up on a ranch in Baylor County, Texas near Seymour and graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1965. He married his wife in 1963 and had a daughter in 1966. After briefly working at the family ranch after graduating, he entered the Army OCS in February 1966 and received his 2nd Lieutenant commission from Ft. Knox. He served at Ft. Bliss and trained in Panama before stationing for a tour at Bear Cat, near Saigon. He was a supply officer before he was killed.
Robert was a devoted Christian, lifelong cowboy and outdoor sportsman, enjoying riflery and participating in rodeos. His plans after completing his tour were to return to ranch management and raise his family.
