About the Artist
|
Phil Taylor moved to Texas with his parents and two siblings as a young child. His ability to draw and paint was recognized at an early age and, after completing high school, he began working with visual artist Brad Smith, graduate of The Art Institute of Chicago. During this apprenticeship Phil learned large-scale mural execution, graphic design and portraiture. His other artistic influences included Patrick Nagel and Dennis Mukai. This combination of influences and self-development ultimately resulted in Phil's unique portraiture style of black and white tones with color accents. Some of his portraits include musicians Stevie Ray Vaughan, Michael Hutchence and Keith Urban, with commissioned works including PGA Golf Champion Nick Price, actress Janine Turner, and musician Larry Gatlin. Currently Phil works and resides in Frisco, Texas with his wife of 20 years and their three daughters.
